    {Continued from Castle Main}

Shade had crossed the threshold of the preferred guest room... Setting what he carried with him on the bed, he closed the curtains... Knowing full well that there were fliers about and didn't want to accidentally blind anyone with his virgin arse... Wandering into a bathing chamber part of it, Shade would work towards filling the tub, nice and hot to relax comfortably in... Shedding the clothing to leave into a pile, Shade would naturally climb in the tub..

Thinking first, he would head into the main room, to pick up a book he brought along... A story of sorts... A book written by a man that goes by the name of Chaucer... Having heard good things about the book, he thought to check it out... Borrow it from his homeland's library... Soaking and reading the book being the only method of relaxation he sought to take... So far, he hadn't much time to delve into it, traveling from there to here, but now he has time to get more into... Starting over at the beginning so he can read what he missed.

She fought him, of course she would, he expected her to but he also knew that like everything else she would come around to his way of thinking. Darren's face mirrored his inner focus cold, calculated, cunning and determined. He knew what he wanted and what he would have of her. It was she after all who had played him like a violin all these years. Taking the gifts he had so meticulously searched for, all the giggles, the teasing looks, not even mentioning all the stolen touches. He had invested far too much and anyone who could not see that Maybelle was his was blind. More to the point anyone who stood in his way, especially now, would be dead. This was not the first time murderous intent had touched Darren's mind nor would it be the last. The difference was in the past it had been just below the surface potential only now that he had been pushed it came to life as easily as taking a breath.

Darren’s grip tightened on Maybelle’s upper arm as she attempted to slow their progress. Pivoting on the ball of his foot his eyes briefly darted to his brother’s lifeless body crumpled on the floor and a satisfied sneer curved his lip. His gaze returned to Maybelle’s no hint of remorse or compassion able to be found. Even his surface thoughts betrayed only a feeling of justification for the acts committed. An eye for an eye right? A blow for a blow. Wasn’t it his precious brother who had drawn first blood? Oh right..that didn’t matter because he was the almighty can do nothing wrong first born. Well he could have all of it Darren couldn’t give a rip but he wouldn’t have Maybelle.

“My BROTHER is hurt?! My BROTHER?! Oh I suppose this little love tap he left me doesn’t mean a thing does it!”

He was preparing further rebuttal when his name sliced through the room. His mother rushed forward pressing between them and before he could fully comprehend she had delivered a stinging slap. A fresh wave of pain vibrated through his already broken nose causing his vision to blur. Blood streamed over his chin and down his throat from the wounds both women had inflicted on him. Darren’s reason fled along with the shredded remains of his sanity. The hand gripping Maybelle’s upper arm remained steadfast while the hand holding his brother’s sword cocked back delivering a full blown back handed strike across Saura’s face. Should she have taken the full force of the blow it would have been more then enough to send her sailing into her favored sons limp body. Before she would fully settle the sword would swing downward placing the razored tip at her throat.

“Don’t touch me!” His words were nearly screamed but just as quickly a maniacal calm fell over him as he moved the sword between his mother and his brother. “Which one first?” Outwardly Darren seemed to be calm as if choosing what wine he would have with dinner. Inwardly murderous intent reigned supreme.

"Mother.." Darren's sword tip once more flowed through the air pricking directly against his mother's throat.

She hadn't known exactly what to expect. How can things just so suddenly spiral out of control? All she had wanted... If she would've known it was going to escalate to this... A different approach... But how was she to know that Darren would be here? Better yet, how did he know she was in Leo's room? She must not have been paying attention, or perhaps it was just as normal for siblings to barge right on in without knocking. Either way, it was much too late to do anything about that now. She had waited with an abated breath, wondering if she would have to sacrifice a part of herself. Would Darren demand it? Would he just simply take it? And what of her? The question was whether or not she would allow it. Good gods.... What the hell did she just offer? Maybelle lifted her chin slightly upwards to meet Darren's eyes as he questioned her. Her voice would pick up and match his own harshness as she said, "You could always take a beating Darren, you're still standing aren't you?" Her downcast features had revived itself into a catlike glare. Crud... What was she thinking? She had just given Darren a back handed compliment AND insulted him at the same time. Seriously? OH she saw alright that Leo had suckered punch Darren, but then the younger had turned around and did the same thing by hitting him on the head? Did that mean that two wrongs made a right? No matter than in her opinion, Darren may have deserved the punch.

Maybelle ears were assaulted with a single word... Darren? Her sunny crown swiveled sharply at the foreign and yet usually soft familiar sound as her cornflower blue hues widened in surprise. Her features paled as lips parted as she shook her head to give Ms. Saura an urgent warning not to interfere... But it was all for naught as she heard the stinging slap from a gently reared hand against the planes of youth. She gasped in surprise, automatically still trying to free herself from Darren, taking a chance that perhaps this new turn of events would unbalance him. Maybelle was scared, and not for herself as she seen Ms. Saura attempt to place herself in between in front of the abuser. Son or no... Would mother and son see eye to eye? Would the power of motherhood take it's rightful place?

Maybelle picked up snatches of Darren's mind frame, even as within her thoughts, she was stunned beyond belief. How naive could she have been? Believing that all he did, and all of hers were just simply out of friendship and nothing more? He saw everything differently and somehow managed to manipulate and twist things that were so innocent into something that was never there. A single tear managed to escape after all down one corner of her eye as she realized his intent. She could not allow it. The brazen mother touched her and even as she saw what would happen, her free hand would forcefully push Ms. Saura out of the way as she exclaimed to her beholder, "No, Darren!" There was no stopping him as she pushed, hoping to make his mother fall a few seconds before that the back of his fist would strike her too hard.

She chocked back a sob as she stood next to Darren, watching all that was taking place. A shiver went down her spine as she observed and picked up the dangerous intonations of his voice. No, no, no, no... She can't allow it... Her mind went quicksilver as she realized that now, instead of one life at stake, now there were two. With Ms. Saura here now, she could be rest assured that Leo would be taken care of. Her heart beat in time with the drumming in her ears, feeling a little faint that Leo had been down for far too long. She had one more trick up her sleeves and she knew she was going to do something both reckless and desperate. Her free hand gathered the edges of her shawl as she pleaded to him, "Darren, please... Don't do this..." A moment... it was all she needed as she passed the material underneath his chin in an attempt to clean him up before her hand slid around his neck in a caress. Tear filled eyes went towards Ms. Saura that bespoke volumes of apology even as her lower pout quivered. Swirls of light pink mist rose from behind Maybelle, so discreetly and quicker than usual. She held him as she used the last of her resources and took Darren with her... Her thoughts in disarray as she only wanted to save mother and son. Not thinking at all as she orbed herself and him out of sight leaving Ms. Saura and Leo with nothing more but a trailing mist and a few fallen pink rose petals.

Leo had been so completely focused on Maybelle that he had neither heard nor seen his own brother's betrayal. One moment she was in his arms filling his senses until he thought his heart would explode. They had kissed giving unspoken promises of all that was yet to come. Then as he rose to stand before her the world went black leaving his last image that of the woman he loved.

He could not possibly know how long he had remained slumped to the floor or even what events were unfolding around him. Leo for all intents and purposes was dead to the world. At some point however something akin to an alarm began sounding just around the edges of the darkness. Maddeningly it worked its way in a spiral until at last it blasted through forcing him to realize something was terribly wrong. Twitching muscles began to stir as he swam through the murk of his mind fighting to the surface where his eyes would open. What Leo saw in that split second nearly ripped his heart from his chest.

"NO!" His voice was thick but still able to swell within the room even as Maybelle's last tear filled gaze was cast. Leo willed himself to move but his body would betray him allowing sluggish motion at best. He watched as her arms moved around Darren's neck and in the blink of an eye they were gone leaving behind the tell tail signs that she had aperated them both to another location.

"NO!!" This time his scream was far more audible as it tore through the room. He began to pull himself upward fighting to shake off the stabbing pain that seared through him. Something other then his uncooperative muscles was holding him down and as he sharply turned his head to see it was the sight of his mother that greeted him.

"No, please no." Leo could instantly see that she was hurt. To what extent he couldn't tell but the bruising and marks were more then enough to indicate his mother needed help. She was laying still next to him for the most part and he carefully shifted so that he could better see the damage. As his eyes roamed over her there could be no question in his mind as to how or even who had done this.

Rage gathered within him but Leo's movements were both careful as well as gently placed. Slipping one arm beneath her knees while the other curved around her shoulders Leo would begin to lift. His own feet planted with surety allowing him to stand. Slowly he would shift her weight until she was protected against his chest before turning to stride toward the door. His mind was evenly divided between the two things he desperately needed to do but Leo knew that as badly as he wanted to find Maybelle and Darren his mother took first priority.

The door to his room was still open from the last two to enter so he stepped through without breaking stride. She needed to be seen by a healer or at least someone who could tend to her properly. Leo would continue down the hallway his eyes searching franticly for anyone who could help. "Father, Wesa.." he called their names loudly as he worked his way toward the stair well that would lead down to the castles main room. As soon as he could assure his mother's safety Leo would begin the search for Maybelle and may the gods help Darren when he found them.

Post  Admin Mon Aug 16, 2010 8:01 pm

By now, when Shade felt his mussels relaxed enough to climb out of the tub, he would place the book down. A frown crossed his face, sensing a malevolence in the air. "Hmmm..." he whispered musedly to himself. "Not the same feeling I felt on my arrival, but I need to be on guard all the same..." It felt as if something was about to break loose at any moment, burst into the open. Meant he needed to get dressed and now is the feeling that he had. Shade had gotten into his pack, pulling out clothing that was more fit to wear around a castle. The timing he had gotten dressed would be about when Saura had entered the Leo's room in her first attempt to save Maybelle. As it was, he didn't know of the events that were transpiring, threatening to break out of the fragile barrier that kept the rest of the castle from knowing about it. Had it been aware to him, he would have acted as a somewhat substitute for her champion, who was busy with other matters. After getting dressed, he sat down on the bed, lacing his boots. He was thinking about taking a nap, but instintually, the paladin knew he would be needed for something. What part he would play in the twist of fate he didn't know, so he wanted to be ready for anything.

Shade's spine stiffened as he grew more alert. Hearing cries of no, sounding like an anguished angry tone to his voice. Reaching over as he stood up off the bed, his hand clasped a blade still in it's sheath. Not thinking there would be enough time to put the blade equiped to his person, he left the room, watching a worried Leo Jr head towards the main, with his mother in his arms. The poor youth seemed to be torn in two... Glancing around to see first if any of the healers were around to tend to it, he saw none. The paladin moved to follow Leo to the castle main area. Understanding the feeling of a purposeful anger, blended in with a need to protect, something he has to do. Frowning as he seen the fresh blood on the youth's head...

"Leo!" Shade called out to get the young man's attention before he was startled. Not wishing to get injured in what adrenaline may think is a threat before friend was recognized. Nodding with the same understanding as before, Shade reached out. "Before I let you go anywhere I need to heal you first..." Reaching out, Shade used his healing hands ability. Of his abilities, that was one of his favorites, a very useful trick that comes with his job, quick healing and good for what happened to Leo. Touching the youth's head to make the injury and pain go away. To leave him feeling fresh and renewed. The next move would be to set the sheathed blade down, the blade was available for Leo to take. "I can't let you go unarmed either." Positioning himself to take the mother from the youth.

Nodding once more, words to comunicate that Shade would take care of the mother, to make sure nothing more happened to the non combatative members of his family. Looking around to see where, if in the area Saffron was, he made for a lesser populated corner of the main hall. To set Saura down on a couch for comfort. Should Saffie be anywhere close, he would ask her to go to the bar and get her mother's preffered drink, or another healer, if not both. So she might not feel useless in what was going on. "What happened?" he glanced towards Saura, concerned and worried about what he was stepping on the trail edges of. "What issue was it that would cause your eldest to out with steel and leave you injured?"

As platonic as ever, Shade scanned for injuries, searching out the one that needed the same healing that was offered to the son moments ago. Prepared to listen, being as he doubted the harm was well and gone from the castle walls. Till he knew what and where it was, and their father arrive, he would remain here. In that nod to go, Shade promised Leo II that he would make sure the girls remained in safety.

Saura hoped deeply that the harsh shock of her hand against his face
would snap him out of whatever madness had taken over. However, moment
by moment she could see that her actions had driven him deeper into
this lapse of sanity. She could see the rage in his soul and would
prepare her stance to take whatever retaliation would come
from him, when a push from an unexpected source attracted her attention.
This sudden force from another direction attempted to knock her off
balance but having prepared her stance, it did little but distract her.
What it did do however, was turn her head at such an angle that
prevented the metal of the hilt from actually making contact with her
    face.

    A muted blunt force sound
carried though the space around them as the weight of the sword in
tandem with the strength of his upper arm carried through the back of
his hand and connected with her bronzed cheek. The capillaries burst
dispersing trace amounts of blood under the flesh of her soft cheek-
luckily, no bones cracked under the force of the violent strike and all
that would appear in the next few seconds was a deep pink and purple
bruise. Her vision automatically blurred creating a tunnel like effect
she couldn't shake. Mystic topaz orbs disappear behind lush lashes working to clear her vision. Fighting the urge to give in, she refused to let it knock her unconscious if she could help it-she fought with all her strength to keep from passing out-which was working slowly but steadily. Sounds seemed so far away, muffled and unrecognizable. Dizziness,on top of all the other symptoms of this violent betrayal, kept her from realizing that her eldest son was not only conscious, but helping to carry her to safety.

Leo had first met Shade while on an outing to the ruined lands of Quella Silvermane. It was his need for silence and solitude that had driven him to explore the nearby lands and even though he had never confirmed it Leo believed it was that same need that had brought Shade there as well. They had spent the day together; the majority in silence, but a budding respect sparked what would later become a deep abiding friendship.

As Leo carried his mother from the room he felt a brief wave of relief at the sight of his friend. He had hoped to find his father but if it couldn't be Leonidas himself Leo was grateful that it was Shade. Carefully he handed Saura over to the man feeling the warm wash of healing take away the throbbing in his head. Their eyes met in a silent exchange and Leo knew Shade would do all within his power to not only keep his mother safe but heal her as best he could. Taking up the offered sword he gave a final worry filled look to Saura then back to Shade.

"Find my father she needs him now."

Leo gripped the sheathed sword tightly as he sprinted down the maze of corridors. There were the guest residence chambers as well as the sets of rooms blocked off for family's that had made Eternal their home. The size of the family as well as their relation to the Empress herself had determined both size and location of their living quarters. Nikolai's family held importance which in turn placed their room’s one floor down from Leo's family. As he reached the top of the stairs he leapt down and using the momentum threw his weight against Maybelle's door nearly taking it off the hinges. The room was dark and he bowled through it like a bull searching feverishly for any signs that she had taken Darren here.

After a frantic search Leo reached the window on the far wall. It over looked the exact spot in the woods where she and her brother Raven had a secret meeting place. It was near to the lake, a safe place Maybelle used to get away from her troubles or to simply be alone. Something within him clicked and without thought to himself Leo hurtled the ledge heading straight for the grounds below. He relaxed his muscles as best he could. He even went limply into a forward roll but even these precautions could not keep his human body from taking a beating from the hard packed earth. Shrugging it off Leo got to his feet pushing himself into a limping lope until he could adjust to the pain. Still gripping the sheath he set aside all else and pressed forward heading for the one place he knew she would be.

    Saura wrote:
Saura winced as the pain throbbed from her cheek. Teeth gritted and
eyes narrowed, she'd try to ignore the ringing in her ears. Her tunnel
vision began to return to normal as she realized she was now in a
corner of the main hall surrounded by 2 figures she couldn't quite
focus on yet. She was sure that one of them was speaking to her but
muffled and indiscernible, sound had not yet returned to normal.

Bronzed hands quickly make their way to her temples massaging in a
circular pattern to alleviate the pain. Her cheek was starting to swell
as the bruise was spreading to just around the outside of her
eye-though the tell-tale signs of her physical pains were nothing close
to the tempest that raged on the inside. Maybelle! Darren!...Leo!
Remembering the sight of her eldest whose wounds cried out for help her
eyes snapped open wide. Her mind flew to Maybelle who could not be left alone with Darren-so full of wrath.

    There
was so much to be taken care of but who would come first? She had to
make a decision... Quickly rising to her feet, she would follow her
motherly instinct and fly to her son in distress. On her way, she'd
employ the entire guard to protect Maybelle if she had
to"....General...Leoni..."a painful grunt followed the words whispered
in haste...she was screaming them in her head, why couldn't she get her
body to echo in cooperation! She didn't make it one step before her
legs collapse underneath her. She reached out for some kind of support
in a world that was not yet clearly seen.

So was all the damage Lady Saura taken to the
head? Shade watching for it a little closer could see the swelling,
with what appeared to be a headache as Saura started to massage her
temple. Before he could use his limited healing ability, his senses
caught Saura rising up, a would be indication of whatever the younger
Leo was caught up in that had him furious, she was involved. That was a
given being as she was carried downstairs for help, but to the
unknowing... Shade would not let her fall and make her injuries worse.
Carefully positioning to where he would be able to catch her and keep
his hands away from inappropirate areas and still not cause more harm.
Then to carefully sit her back down as he believed she shouldn't be
pushing herself so hard that more injuries would be inflicted at the
    moment.

He was uncertain of how to go about it, to find
Leo and stay here with Saura. Make sure she is alright. That was when
out of the corner of his eyes, he could have sworn he seen Wesa's tail
leave the room. If that was true, which he had a feeling that it was, Shade knew where the feline would be headed. Smart cat!

It had made him wonder if she knew of the blood on the elder.
Would that be why she felt an urgent desire to get up and moving before
she was able to? Gently, to try to express that he wasn't going to try
anything that would be stupid to her he could continue. "He is okay, I
made sure of that before I let him go. Will you tell me what happened?
I am about to touch your head, to pass some healing energy. If I know Wesa well enough, Leo will be here shortly."

The latter part was in hopes that she would
calm down. To let her know that Shade's intentions were pure. His hand
would glow of the energy that was needed and raise up. To touch her so
that the injuries taken to her head would dissapear. Carefully in that
just in case she was of dark element, that it should not harm her. "Do
you feel better?" Shade would ask, hoping that she would be able to
relax somewhat knowing that things were going to be alright. Once more
he would ask her another question, hoping that he would learn what
happened that would deem it nessesary to send Leo with his sword. "Will
    you tell me what happened?"

He was kitteh on mission!!! He had seen what had become of Lady Saura,
the lady of whom his human's heart belonged to! Heard the words the
heir had spoken to go get the father! First, as Wesa had never taken
any jewlrey that wasn't directly given permission to play with, Wesa
had went, to search for a trinket that he could show to the general to
help him in this task. Finding a bracelet, he would carefully pick it
up and then bolt out of the room. Following trail and avoiding people
that he felt might try to take the trinket from him before the messenge
can be passed on. It would have perhaps been easier to use telepathy,
but at this moment in life, Wesa didn't share that skill with his lady
love. She was at the moment in the bar area with Devlin last he knew.

Through the halls Wesa would pace, thinking about how to go about
this. Until his furry legs would carry him to the end of the trail,
right outside the council chambers. He would drop the trinket as he
would wait till Leo came out. When he did emerge Wesa would leap up at his leg with an urgent mewl to get his attention, and gently tug on the pants. Not enough to do anythign potentially traumatizing, but only enough to get attention that it's important. More mewls would insist as Wesa had pushed the lady's bracelet towards him. Once he was done nudging the bracelet with his nose, Wesa kept mewling with an urgency to follow him as he quickly walked a couple feet. Had it been enough to convey the messenge?

The General had followed Wesa through the halls feeling the growing lump in his throat threatening to cut off his breathing. He rounded the final corner to see the cat standing in front of an open door. At fist he was surprised as it was not a doorway leading to any of the rooms within their residential quarters. Wesa however seemed very aliment that he should go through the open door to see what lay within. After a final glance and hesitant step he did just that and what he saw within made Leonidas's blood run cold.

Inside the room his wife lay on a bad her face badly battered and her clothing spattered with blood. Her pain was as keenly felt as if it was his own as he begged the gods that it could be. A few more slow steps brought him futher into the room his eyes fully focused on his wife.

"Saura," it was a hoarse whisper filled with emotion. In one respect it was a question, who could have possibly done this? In another it was a statement, please be alright. Leonidas's mind tried desperately to grasp what had happened but it was his miltaristic background that finally kicked into gear.

"You," his voice turned flat and cold as his head turned to look at the only person within the room. Before the other man could utter a word the General's hand shot out across Shades body to his shoulder in the attempt to clasp it firmly. Should he find purchase his forearm would thrust up into the others throat and he would charge forward in order to slam him against the wall.

"What have you done to MY WIFE?!" Each word was spat out more forceful then the last only inches from Shades face should he have achieved his goal. Leonidas would begin drawing a dagger from his belt sheath and should the man falter even for a moment it would be used with deadly accuracy.

Saura’s vision began to clear as the warmth of Shade’s healing washed over her. Her vision was completely restored and her bruise nearly gone when she heard the familiar baritone timbre of her husband’s voice. Slowly she started to support her own weight just in time to see Leo slam Shade against the wall. Caramel tones sound in a level yet urgent manner. “Leo, Please. I’m alright. He was only helping.” Deeply expressive orbs beckon Leo to come to her and see for himself that she was safe. She needed his strength; she needed to feel him by her side as she tried to recall the events of the last few moments.

Choosing her words carefully as to keep a level head, she spoke. “I remember Maybelle, Darren, and….LEO!” Mystic topaz orbs dart around the room remembering the state in which she’d last seen her eldest son-limp, lifeless, and lying in a pool of his own blood. Level head be damned, her child was in grave danger! She wanted to rush to Shade and plead with him, wanting to hear that he was perfectly fine-that she’d imagined everything. However, two feet planted firmly on the floor she’d turn her full attention to him and ask: “Shade, Where is he? Please tell me you’ve seen him. Tell me he’s not Dea…” Her words end in a breathless choke-tears welling up inside her, tightness in her chest and stomach- trying to keep frantic emotions at bay…trying to hope for the best.

Shade would sign with relief as he would start to watch the signs of Saura's coming around. Worry starting to ease as she started to come around. Thanks be to whom was watching over her that she would come out of this alright. Shade was about to turn to face her husband who came at about the right time to find the lady... Then to hear the anger of his voice directed at him. Leonidas was justifiably angry, since it was Wesa that went to fetch him he may not know anything of what happened here. As a result, Shade chose not to argue about it, that it might be mistaken for a sign of guilt if he tried to fight it. Allowing Leo to shove him up against the wall, Shade's eyes had a respectful understanding of why and the question that came foreward didn't surprise him at all. Keeping calm, not knowing much more about the situation than he did, Shade was about to respond when Saura's voice was heard, the best chance of getting through the angry protective mind Shade had.

Keeping quiet for a moment, Shade glanced her way, glad to see that she was faring much better than a couple moments ago. Shade continued to stand there and let the general pin him, figuring that he would be released once the man behind was satisfied. Sympathy shown in those eyes once she started to recall what had happened, and a mother's fear for her young. "Leo is alright." Shade spoken, looking to where the blood was... Dear gods that couldn't have helped his case any... He could likely be severely injured waiting for furthur punishment in the dungeons or be laying dead on the floor by now. Trying to bring her some reassurement, deciding that Leo jumping out of the window wasn't what she needed to hear at the moment. If he had landed totally wrong and not be okay chances are that would have spread like wildfire due to the parents station in life. "I was in the usual guest room when I heard him calling for help. Coming to investigate I found him looking for help and trusted me. He was pretty angry, so he is out searching for the
culprit, and he didn't go unarmed."

He would turn to face Leo, respectfully being as what he seen looked like he was the one who could have done it. Something that anyone with a heart would understant. "It was Wesa that clued you in on trouble wasn't it? Leo made mention that you were needed and I barely seen him leave the room." Shade said no more on it why this happened. It was understandable even with one of the General's daggers seeking to mix Shade's blood with what was on the floor already. Concern for the situation grew in the pits of the paladin's stomache as he sensed more turmoil surrounding the castle like thickening smoke. Whatever happened involved his family and Maybelle... What it was, he still didn't know exactly. It would be up to Saura to tell more as it comes to her. After she recovers from fearing Leo's life perhaps? It was the best way he can thank her for speaking on his behalf a moment ago, at least for the moment as he wouldn't do anything that would land him in deeper mud than he already was.

An ear would flicker as his human had gotten the messenge... To enter the room and to see his lady. Like he planned, Wesa had stood up and wavered his tail a moment. Alert as he realized that it was his fault, and at the same time that it wasn't when Leo pushed Shade against the wall. The inability to speak was what caused this... Inability to warn his companion and tell him what feline eyes had observed... However, he had played his part, and lead Leonidas here... The mouse is on the human's turf to chase now....

He stepped back and seated once more, watching what would happen when Saura had spoken, intending to clear the man's name. There wasn't much he could do to confirm or not, so Wesa would leave this to the humans. Allow them to settle this in the ways Wesa couldn't help. Instead he would walk over and investigate the signs... Lingering scent of lust and rage remained. Hairy situation that now had went to the outside world.

Mewling softly as this was one fine mess, Wesa had wandered to where Saura was, questioning the paladin about the condition of her eldest. Purring to try to bring her comfort he would meow softly. Being careful as to not upset her balance he would rub up against her legs, the way cats do to show affection.

Post  Admin Mon Aug 16, 2010 8:05 pm

The woman opened her eyes as a commotion began outside her door, turning her head to the source with a furrowed brow and a frown. While her instructions had been precise, and customs rock solid in her upbringing, the kind of commotion raised a flag of consern. Such racket was not even seen in a barracks, much less within the halls used to live within.

She stood from her crossed legged position from the floor at the foot of the bed, walking barefoot out of the circle of Muth La's embrace she had painstakingly painted between greeters and curious visitors. She had nearly made it to the door when she gazed down and with sudden recall remembered that outside the rooms that a chest covering was required. So many strange rules to remember..

Hurriedly she turned the longer piece of her neva, a type of two pieced short cape used to cover oneself when weather started to become cooler, so that it covered her as was proper for the region despite the season. Taking up her sword fro the doorway as a precaution, she would swing her door open and make her way to the direction the noise had come from to investigate. There she found a standoff of sorts, or that was what she had to assume it was. The General that had so cheerfully showed her to her room was in a fit of fury. A female in midst of recovery. And another male standing in submission with the general's blade at his throat.

It was hard enough with the scene in itself if it had been at home. But there were so many rules and taboos and customs that she would be hard pressed to realise the full details at a glance. As the outsider looking in, all she could say with no uncertainty was there were no signs of hostility in the captive (shade). The smell of blood and fear was thick too, even to her blunted sences.

"What what?" she asked in a level, controled tone as she made haste toward the woman to make sure she was alright, as since she was very small she had lived within a culture where females and their well being held the highest priority, seeking out the common words she would need. "No wounds, yes?"

The woman's sudden panic alarmed her as she tried to keep up with the language. Where is he? Seen? It did not take long to realise the blood and her frantic tone were connected to yet another casualty. What had happened? This male did not smell of blood, nor did he have a sence of agression or guilt around him. In fact he seemed more eager to see to the woman's well being than his own while maintaining his submission to the angry general. In her culture the mark of a good son.

"Gin-eral. This son eez not... is not danger. This Mother not injured." She managed to say with some certainty, sencing there was something far more pressing to deal with. There were better words. But so few had an orcish equivalent to work with. "This Lee-oh? Where?"

The fact that Shade not only did not resist the assault but also willingly allowed him to move him at will forced the General's dagger to pause. A guilty man would resist or at the very least attempt to negotiate his way out of the situation. The paladin however did neither; instead he seemed to patiently await Leonidas to come to his senses.

It was Saura's voice that actually brought that about. She called his name to first grab his attention then used the power of her gaze to draw him to her. Sheathing the dagger he released the man with no hesitation and moved to one knee before his wife. Leonidas's hands sought out her face tenderly touching the mark that even now had begun to vanish. Feverishly his eyes searched her seeking out anything he may have missed.

"Maybelle, Darren, and Leo," Leonidas looked between his wife and Shade thoroughly confused on what has happened. "Saura who did this to you?" He had just asked the question when she jumped to her feet in a panic. Something had happened with the children and it was bad enough to frighten her.

"Please love calm yourself." Leonidas stood wrapping a protective arm around his wife as they both heard Shade's explanation. One that assured them their eldest was alright but did not begin to answer the many questions rolling through his mind. "Someone tell me what has happened and where the children are. There are enemies on the grounds. If they have attempted an attack on the castle I need to know now."

The General took the minute it would take for someone to begin speaking to touch upon the link held to the Empress herself. Something has happened within the residential chambers involving Darren, Leo, and Maybelle. Saura has been hurt and I am currently being briefed. Looking up Leonidas saw the arrival of the newly appointed General of the Imperial army. She looked to be just as confused as he was. General Gaz is with me we will investigate and report immediately.

Leaving the link open Leonidas's attention would turn to the new arrival. "General, I am not sure what has happened but we both are about to find out." Looking back between the two he would wait as patiently as he could for the two to explain allowing the Empress to hear first hand.

Deeply expressive mystic topaz orbs quickly focus on her husband at his announcement of danger within the lands. Fear for her children as well as Maybelle wells within her, as she considers their possible fate if they’re not found soon. At the prompting of her husband…the events that preceded in the moments before came flooding to her memory, Darren almost forcing himself upon Mabelle, a lady, like she was nothing more than a harlot-or at least that was the way it appeared-her eldest slumped in a pool of his own blood…

Before she knew it, a female had entered the chamber which her husband had addressed as general. She must be the new general Saura had yet to meet…what a gentle introduction they were to have. With a nod, Saura would respond to the general in a quick yet diplomatic gesture. With such an audience Saura would decide to move upon action rather than explanation-Partly in concern for how quickly all of this would escalate and cause a great deal of lawful danger for her loved ones and half of concern for Leo II and Maybelle’s safety.

Delicately accented caramel tones carry much weight as she speaks: “Forgive me, but we haven’t time for an explanation now-we must search for the three of them immediately. Enlist the help of as many as you trust Leonidas, this must be resolved swiftly and with much discretion.”

Post  Admin Mon Aug 16, 2010 8:05 pm

Shade didn't have to wait too long before he found himself released, as Leo suspected. He was simply waiting for Leo to realize. Though if he needed furthur proof he would have. Use a seeable ability from his paladin class, just as the healing hands again. Seems to be the trait of the day... As anyone would know, with his diety being female, striking down a woman would have landed him in more trouble with his goddess than rotting in the dungeon. For he would have been hers to pass judgement on in the afterlife... "Thanks."

An inclined head would also dip towards Gaz for the moment, acknologing her presence into the room. As to thank her as well. It was curious that a human should dress and speak as an orc would, but it didn't stun him. He's seen many things and had heard things. She must have been what was called a reborn orc maybe? Keeping repectful of language barriers, he spoke simply. "Hello."

"I don't think... Saura needs to say more than she already has..." Shade's tone implied that while he was standing there, he thought more about the situation that he had landed himself in. There were only three scents on Saura when he was tending her injuries. Leo, Darren, and Maybelle. Leo didn't do it, for he was enraged to find his mother in such a state and to imply that Maybelle would is like calling Shade a Blackguard. The two pieces of the puzzle simply wouldn't fit... "I had heard Leo call for help, angry emotions caused me to pick up my non holy blade and go investigate. Leo has it now.. He went that way, that is perhaps where we should start the search." A hand gestured towards the forest, towards the lake...

Shade didn't like to imply to Darren's father that he suspects he was the one that did it... However, it makes sense in a sickening way. Maybelle and Darren were missing from the room when Shade got here. Saura was injured... Leo was injured. Darren's infatuation for Maybelle wasn't exactly a secret to those that were paying attention. Knowing Maybelle, she wouldn't allow them any more harm if she could help it, so she likely did what she had to do... Shade didn't want to believe that it was true, but looking at the evidence... He couldn't pinpoint whose, but there seemed to be trouble from the direction that he seen Leo take off to.

He would roll his eyes to the floor as he felt a tug on his soul. "Ceci," he whispered, thoughtfully as he would respond to her. Forgetting to greet her but advise her. ~ Be on your guard ~ Shade responded, not saying hello first, but going into protective elder brother role. ~ I am sure you already know this, but there is trouble afoot... Could possibly be close to your area. ~

He was tempted of course, to ask her if she had seen anyone on the grounds, but they didn't know his triplet. Saura asked for discretion, so did he have the right to ask his sister to become involved. He told her to be on her guard, but there was other trouble afoot besides that and what he sensed yet to come. She was a pain in the ass at times, but when it came to it Cecillia was reliable. He knew her, but they didn't... As much as she could be useful right about now, Saura's wish for discretion as she was likely right was probably...

"If I could be of furthur help, I would be more than happy to do so." Shade had explained, unsure if even he had a place in this mess anymore. He came and gone, this place he had returned to more than his homelands. Still, he was doing his best to resist the urge than to involve Cecillia in this. Bottom line was they didn't know her, and he wasn't going to expect them to deem her trustworthy.

The General listened to the explanations given and then heard the words of the Empress. Between them the pieces began to fall into place leaving a very disturbing image. He stepped away from his wife first removing his sword then the great majority of his armor. 'I will go at once you’re Majesty.' Leonidas addressed the Empress through their shared link allowing it to close that she may deal with the other matters at hand.

It did not take long for the General to strip himself down to a pair of leather pants and training boots. While he did not carry the bulk of some his body was well honed with a tightly defined muscular build. His smooth chest and arms bore the markings of a warrior like a map of the many battles he had lead and though he was climbing in years it could not be seen in his physique.

Strapping on his sword Leonidas looked first to Shade. "I owe you a great debt as well as an apology. I would ask that you allow me to offer both fully upon my return as well as take you up on your offer of extended help." His gaze would then move to his wife. "I know where they are and I must go now. Please stay close to my wife," his hand would reach out to take Saura's, "keep her safe for me." He would lift her hand to his lips brushing a loving kiss over each fingertip before releasing her.

Turning the General would now look to Gaz. "General I would ask your help in this matter. Please follow me." Having made the request Leonidas would quickly stride from the room pausing only long enough for Gaz to retrieve any weapons she may need.

In an effort to fight the tempest of emotion rising within her, mystic topaz orbs fall to a calculated point on the floor-focusing intently upon it. Hearing the sound of each piece of her husband’s armor fall one by one, the sting of bitter tears burn battling to find cracks in the dam of her eyes as she holds bated breath. She knew this feeling all too well. Her place was to stay within the confines of the castle, a place he knew she was safe. And while he fought physical battles, she fought fierce battles of her own unbearable doubt and excruciating anxiety.

She desperately wanted to go with him, to help find their children and bring them back to safety. She tried to hide the duress that raged within her deeply expressive orbs as he kissed each of the tips of her bronzed fingers. She despised her “place” in this instance. In this moment Saura wished she were the fiercest of soldiers instead of the wife of a general- regardless of the diplomatic office she held.

Watching his back as he walked away she could barely restrain the urge to grab whatever was closest and heave it as hard as she could across the room. Striding to the window she resisted her first impulse to walk right out of the door close behind him-knowing she’d be considered one more complication compounding the situation. A stifled grunt accompanied a forceful slam of her forearm against the stone gave some clue of the storm that raged just under the surface.

Looking out the window, so many possibilities of the harm that could befall her loved ones raced within her mind-too much for a mother to endure. Bile quickly rose in her throat causing her to hastily run for the bath chambers unable to restrain it.

Wesa had felt bad, being as his affections towards the lady of the house when it comes to the family he belongs with were unsucessful. A soft mewl as he understood. Hard to pay attention to a cat when her kittens were out there in potential harm's way. So really, he should keep trying as the feelings of despair were so thick in her emotions that it was making him nervous. He had started to follow his human companion as he heard the request made. Not quite understanding. Stay here because I will need you soon? An ear flickered in puzzlement as he decided to abide the request. He turned and headed back inside to watch the paladin and Saura. We cats always know when we are needed, instincts will tell us so if our ears fail us...

Wesa mewled sadly as he watched Saura slam her hand against the window. Was Pantera like this every time he had the need to go into danger? He wasn't sure if he wanted to know the answer to that question, as he was afraid that it would tear him up to know. Chances are he already knew that answer... Another instance where all he can do is thank Bast that Pantera remained by his side. Will have to make sure next time he sees her Wesa will let her knew... Wonder when the next mouse will enter the castle...

He had gotten off his butt and walked towards Saura again, as the paladin didn't need the consoling at the moment. Watching her graceful for a two legger's form head into the room the humans dedicate towards bathing purposes. They just don't have the tongue to properly lick themselves clean, though they groom other areas... Mating rituals seemed to have different kinds of grooming... Maybe it is better for the concievement of kittens to make sure that area is cleaned before hand? He doesn't know if he will ever truely understand the strange things he has seen or heard of human rituals.

He would jump onto the object closer to Saura... In an attempt to comfort the lady, he would start to purr softly, with a mewl. Then reach over and start to clean her face. If it would help or if she would allow him to is another matter. He could later at least sit on the general's lap and purr knowing he at least tried to sooth Lady Saura.

    (The Dungeons)

    Fayte DeFanel :
Just as the image churning within his hand slowly took it's shape so did her understanding of the meaning he was attempting to convey. For a long period of time Fayte sat and stared at the conjured likeness. Myriad emotions flickered across pale features...shock, fear, frustration, sadness, grief, anger and lastly despair. "No!" Fayte's head shook from side to side in denial as her fist clenched hard into the loose straw pallet of her makeshift bed. How can this be! Her heart felt as if it broke..nay...shattered into a thousand deadly shards. As deadly as the job she was bound to complete. "You! But why? WHY!?" She rose to stand small and trembling before him. Am I nothing more then a pawn in this game you play with each other? She thought softly yet projected the question towards him. Stricken tears of grief flowed with the anger that coursed through her. I am doomed no matter what choice I make. "You know what I have come here to do then." Fayte sagged to her knees defeated with hopelessness. "I do not want to hurt anyone...least of all you...never you." Liquid depths caressed pleadingly over his hallowed features. "I would rather die by your hand then his."

    DarkLordRoanSilvermane:
He not only say the myriad of emotions but felt them as if they were his own...the Dark Lord stepped forward the illusion melting away to display the form she knew so well. Long white locks flowed over an intricately tattooed back...while the broad expanse of his chest was bare displaying the perfect sculpting of each muscle group at 8'9" he would tower over her causing her now trembling form to seem even smaller...vulnerable by comparison. He ached to hold her and when she slumped to the ground he could take no more...reaching out his arms enfolded her drawing her against his chest...one hand curved around her back while the other smoothed back her hair coaxing her chin to lift that their eyes may meet..."you are no pawn to me...this has not been nor ever could be a game...what we shared during your long slumber was very real...you have but to look within my mind to see my heart"...having said that Roan fully opened his mind allowing all walls to crumble before her and for the first time in his existence allowed himself to be laid bare...vulnerable to her whim...

    Fayte DeFanel :
She stiffened unsure as muscular arms moved to embrace and draw her against his powerful chest. She felt weightless and minuscule so close to him in person so different from the dream like images they shared when she was imprisoned within her own mind. "Roan..." Fayte savored his name against her lips as their gazes locked. The husk of his words caressed teasingly against the delicate shell of her ears. A voice she forever longed to hear. "I am a pawn...and I will always be a pawn..." Her words broke off unable to finish as Roan opened his mind. She felt pulled towards the vortex of swirling mists guarding his mind and heart. At first there was naught but a chill darkness...as dark and cold as the prison she was forced to endure for so long. Her brow knit as she concentrated harder, perspiration began to bead upon her brow as Fayte pushed past the boundaries of her own fears. It was then she seen it, like a beacon of light at the end of the tunnel. She followed it straight into the core of his mind....the images, the feelings,
centuries worth of memories all converged upon her and dangerously so. But it was one thing and only one thing she sought and with the strain clouding her own mind she finally found. The path to his heart. She knew everything then. Why he had come and sought her out in the greatest depths of Lac dungeons. He did not only comfort her but she as well comforted him. She not only needed him...they had needed each other. And together they had lived...pulling each other out of the darkness. And they would continue to live... Fayte's arms lifted as her small hands moved to gently cup his features as her own once again fell ashamed at herself her actions. "I understand...I see now what I never though I would see again. I am so sorry."

    DarkLordRoanSilvermane
Forest green melded through milky orbs bringing a deeply expressive gaze to meet her own...it was not often that the greater deity would drop even a portion of his guard none the less the entire shroud he had grown so accustomed to holding before all he knew Vulnerability was not an easy thing for any but he felt compelled to do so...in part that she may have the piece of mind she craved but mainly out of the love he bore her. What was between them had taken time to develop...something both had found in abundance during their imprisonment...hers by her uncles hands...his own being self imposed once it had taken root...their bonds had grown stronger every day until there would be nothing that could keep them apart. There were no words worthy of that moment...instead he left himself open to her that she may take of him what she would. The hand at her back would pull her closer still...relishing the ability to actually feel her near to him...something he had longed to do for what felt like an eternity...the other hand moved that the tips of his fingers may lightly trace over her features settling on the fullness of her lips...when she spoke a single finger would press to tenderly silence her..."there is no need to apologize..." again the gentle brush of his touch would outline her mouth..."you have been through so much...would that I could take your pain that you may feel it no more..."

    Fayte DeFanel :
Pale lids shuttered as she savored the caress of his touch. "But..." Her moist lips parted as she began to say more yet was silenced. Somehow this felt like a dream to her...would she wake only to find herself back in the possession of her uncle? "No..." She whispered to herself as tapered digits slid downwards to grip his shoulders. Please let this be real. Where she had thought she would never be again Fayte was actually tired her mind overly numb. Sagging against Roan her forehead rested lightly against his chest. "Please...I have so much to atone for...so much regret festering in my heart. I have everything to apologize for." Her grip tightened upon his flesh. "Do not take this pain away from me for it is everything I deserve for the sin's I've committed against everyone I have ever loved."

    DarkLordRoanSilvermane
Her pain became his own...how often had those very words rang from his own lips...how often had he sought redemption for wrongs committed...Roan held her allowing her to give voice to what lay within her heart...lovingly he attempted to give her comfort...to sooth that which haunted her As she leaned upon him his mind would slowly enter her own and thought it brought him further pain knowing that soon she would again forget all they shared...the greater deity began weaving the needed spell around the force of his will to painstakingly rebuild the walls of protection around her memories. Roan knew that if Lac were to know or have the knowledge that she was no longer his...Fayte's life would be forfeit...that he could not allow. So for now he would suffer in silence...holding this encounter until the time was right...that they may stand together facing any who would stand in their way. A final kiss was brushed over her lips as the last memory was closed allowing her to fall into a deep and dreamless sleep....he would then recede back into the darkness allowing the shadows to take him away...

It would seem exactly as he thought, the role he played in this situation had pretty much come to a conclusion. As Leo had taken command of the situation making it merely official that Shade's place was to stand by and allow others to act on it. That was how it was deemed to be then what more could he do? "We can talk more about it later, your family needs your support." Shade spoken, thoughtfully as he would not prevent Leonidas to do what he had to do. He didn't think he needed to detain Leo any furthur by stating that he would make sure no one with the intentions of harming the man's wife would suceed again.

When Leo left, Shade's hands were behind his back, wrists on top of one another as if he were expecting shakles to be placed on them. A habbit that in his many years of slavery and otherwise thrown in dungeons by villains that he had never broke. It was subconcious, over the experiences was a comfortable position for him to be in. If it makes sense. "It must be hard to be strong..." He spoke, attempting to say something as Saura had went to the window, wishing perhaps to see what was going on. Her emotions were a torrent at the moment, like the waves produced by a hurricane, threatening to swallow her up... That was the empression empathic senses told him. He didn't know what to say that would be of help to her.

He wished he knew what to do as she went into the bathroom. Standing where he was, for ladies didn't usually wish to be seen by another while making the sounds that his hearing picked up. Wesa following her in of course, as cats are known to do. "Your love asked me to stay and watch over you, but there are likely servants in the halls. Wish me to call one of them and have them send for a drink?"

It was just about the only thing he could think of to do that could help her. Shade wasn't sure if telling her it would be okay would really help, and something to wash away the taste might help... The minutes seemed like hours just about to those that would only be able to wait, wait and hope for the best.

He had felt restless every since arriving home to have his son nearly break his neck from falling off the roof. It wasn't anything specific that he could put his finger on but there was that little niggling at the back of his mind that just wouldn't quit. Something was not adding up where his children where concerned and until he knew what it was he wouldn't be able to let it go.

He would half heartedly smile that mona lisa smile to his wife as she busyed herself around their room unpacking and just fussing in general. He really did try to focus and help with all those things that need to be done when you first come back from a much needed vacation but no matter how hard he tried it just wasn't happening.

Heaving a sigh he would finally give in flopping down in a chair, "I give up," he would throw his hands in the air. "There's something going on," turning his head he would get a look of frustration, "I just wish I could put my finger on it." Turning back he would look at Romi. "Do you have any idea what is going on with Raven and May? Did she say anything to you?"

Shaking his head he was about to say something else but instead he heard his daughter call..more like cry out his name. He turned every shade of white as he jumped from his chair, "its May and she's in trouble." That was all he could say before congering an opening to the shadow planes and racing through.

A single bronzed hand reached for a towel to wipe the corner of her mouth. Saura's eyes closed tightly, she would try to steady her nerves enough for the nauseous feeling to somewhat subside. The familiar feeling of Wesa's warm fur on her cheek did help her to feel a bit more steadied. A sad smile would come to rest upon the fullness of her lips, trying to muster some semblance of the response Wesa was surely seeking.

Rising, she'd move to the water basin and dip her hands in. Bringing the fluid to her face, Saura found a small comfort in the coolness of it upon her face. She would listen to Shade as she dried her face and came to respond by exiting the bath chamber, moving back to the window. Shaky caramel tones-filled with the anxiety that raged within her would answer: "Thank you but there is no need."

A fleeting smile would come and go as she turned her attention from Shade back to the grounds outside her chosen window…

Mystic topaz orbs with hawk-like vision scan the line of trees for any trace of her family. Her very soul seemed to drop within her as she recognized the form of her husband and in his arms, the limp and bloody body of her first born baby boy. Bated breath rushed from her body all at once, as if she'd been delivered a devastating kick to the chest. Then the second blow delivered upon the sight of Raven bearing her little Saffie in much the same manner.

"Oh Heaven" Two words painfully wretch out of her as if they were her last. Tears too bitter to cry coming to halt themselves before overflowing-twisting like a steely strike to her heart. As Raven approached the window-she'd scan the horizon, watching for Darren. Another strike delivered directly as the anxiety rose to its fiercest level-a thought too horrendous to bear as to the state of her Darren- or worse yet, that he had caused this. Either way, she needed to know he was alright.

Her arms ached to hold her children so much that as Raven approached her arms were strained, outstretched toward her daughter almost to the point of causing herself physical pain. At the words of Raven, she would plead with heaven: "Saffron…baby…please." As soon as Raven came close enough to hand her over, If he would do so, Saura would take her into her embrace and carry her quickly to the bed. The amount of blood reminded her of so many of her husbands wound's before-a no doubt horrific experience, something she spent her mornings praying that her children would never have to endure.

Feeling the steady breath of her daughter let her know her baby girl was still alive and fueled her resolve. Examining the bloodiest area, she had no time to be concerned with modesty-she had to see the extent of the wound. She would rip Saffie's dress to fully expose the area-the pristine ivory from mid-waist to the full side view of her hip bare to view.

The same delicate hands that examined every inch of her daughter's body at birth-now knowingly examine the area for a wound that she suddenly realized was not there. Grateful tears run from an indebted mother's face realizing what Raven had done for her daughter. Words caught in her chest in overwrought with emotion, striking orbs look to Raven, her gratitude clearly shone within. "Thank you."

If looks could break hearts, it would be the look of horror as loved ones faced the worst of it. Saura's expression when she had seen Leo and Saffie were painful, as she loved her children. His empathic senses picked it up, leaving Raven to sympathize, more like to an extent as he had to face the worst potentiality with Maybelle. When Saura reached out for her baby, Raven didn't waste any time in handing her over. Never get in a way of a mother when she's fretting about her babies, that is not an idea of a way to die. Besides, the avariel's wings were exhausted and felt as if they were about to fall off at the moment, having used them quite a bit more than normal for Raven.

As Saura went to take Saffie to the bed, he could sense some relief as Saura would realize that Saffron was still alive. That was good... Stormy Greys glanced down to where the Leos were, approaching the castle. Hearing faintly with keen hearing a stop in entrance to the castle. Raven was at first thinking about lifting the injured one back up here, but exhausted wings and the tone who Raven thought he heard told him it was a bad idea... There wasn't much that he could do here...

The next question that lingered in his mind was what to tell Saura about Darren? That he was whisked off to Lac's abyss? Raven had a bad impression on what was going to happen down there, as the bastard had a repuation that preceeded him, but prayed that the avariel was wrong. Evidence of what happened to this point was strong. This speculation wasn't anything that he wanted to say, as there was a slight chance that Raven would be wrong... He wanted to bring her hope, not despair!

The sound of cloth had ripped Raven from his thoughts, jerking his attention towards Saura and Saffron. Shade was there standing guard, so at least she wasn't alone... Would make excusing himself easier on his concience. Shining through the distress that dominated her features, relief seemed to have taken it's hold. This was good. "Your welcome. I only wish I could have been able to do more."

Raven had held onto the window as he folded his wings, hiding them from sight so that he could climb through the window and move through the room easier. "I am pretty sure aside from rest all she needs is a mother's touch." There was an attempt of a smile and a wink given to Saura. So that perhaps she would be able to feel better. Mother's touches were a marvolous thing, and can be more potent than a spell to cure serious wounds for the spirit.

"I must take my leave, for now. I need to go see the Empress." At this point it was a hard call on it if was better or not to inform her of what happened to Darren or if he should let that information come from her husband. He didn't know how to tell her, so he would leave that up to the General. That way as a family they could face this?

His feet would lead him out of the room, and towards his own for a moment. Having tossed Maybelle his shirt, he needed to put on another one before presenting himself in the Council Chambers. Deciding for now it was better to avoid having to ask questions, he didn't go say hi for now, slipping in as quietly as he could to grab a shirt. In and out.... Placing it on as he ventured quietly, sensing a portal still open. Niki planning to bring Maybelle back likely... She's the one that needs their attention more than he does... She WAS the center stage in this and could answer any questions likely better than he could.
